Summary of Request

The Department of Planning and Building Services is responsible for providing code enforcement services to the unincorporated areas of Mendocino County.  Enforcement activity ranges from enforcing land use, zoning, health and safety, building codes and other applicable County codes.

As part of the Department’s effort to comply with Board directives and ensure fair and equitable enforcement of County code, there is a need to retain the services of Taylor Code Consulting, Inc.  Services to be performed during the three-year term of the contract will allow the Department to establish policies, procedures and introduce or amend ordinances for the effective and efficient enforcement of County code.

In addition, code enforcement expertise is needed due to the recent retirement of the Code Enforcement Supervisor.  Taylor Code Consulting will not only be able to provide such expertise but also will bring the unique experience of having local and regional knowledge with a code and law enforcement perspective.

Alternative Action/Motion:

Do not approve the contract and direct staff
