Ratify submission of application for funds available from CDPH, Safe and Active Communities Branch in the amount of $52,500 to provide support to the Opioid Abuse Prevention Coalition (Safe Rx Mendocino) from June 1, 2017 to February 28, 2019; and authorize HHSA Director/Designee to sign agreement and any future amendments that do not affect the maximum amount on behalf of Board, if funding is granted.

Summary of Request:
Public Health, Prevention and Planning Unit (PAPU) will apply to receive a 21 month grant of $52,500 from CDPH, Safe and Active Communities Branch to sustain the work of the Safe Rx Mendocino Opioid Abuse Prevention Coalition. The grant will provide $7,500 for the first 3 months (FY 16/17), $30,000 for the following 12 months (FY 17/18), and $15,000 for the remaining 6 months (FY 18/19). Grant dollars will be used to increase Naloxone access in the County, improve safe prescribing practices, and conduct a public education and media outreach campaign, all focused on decreasing deaths and overdoses due to the misuse and abuse of Opioids.
