The Board of Supervisors routinely adopts proclamations recognizing special events and meritorious achievements.
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
American Red Cross heroes are on the front lines every day. Locally, we have 21 Red Cross volunteers who give their time, provide life-saving courses and financial donations to help with those in need. They work tirelessly in the time of disaster and provide round-the-clock support to members of the military, veterans and their families. They also teach classes in disaster preparedness and response, Nurse Assistant Training and International Humanitarian Law. Each year, Red Cross helps Mendocino County residents lead safer, better lives. Across the country, American Red Cross volunteers response to natural disasters and tragedies. American Red Cross also finds blood donors and offers comfort to injured service members. The mission of American Red Cross is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies, and it relies on donations of time, money and blood to fulfill its humanitarian mission.
It is requested that the Mendocino Board of Supervisors recognize the month of March 2017 as American Red Cross Month in Mendocino County and encourage all Americans to support this organization and its mission.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Do not adopt the Proclamation or identify other means of recognition.
