SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
California Government Code ? 53069.8 allows a County Board of Supervisors to contract on behalf of the Sheriff to provide supplemental law enforcement services to private individuals and private entities in order to preserve the peace at special events or occurrences that happen on an occasional basis. Throughout the year, Mendocino County has a number of private events occur that require this service. Agreements are permissible and entered into only when the provision of services pursuant to the code will not reduce the normal and regular ongoing service that the County would otherwise provide. The agreements are reviewed by County Counsel, the Executive Office and the Risk Manager prior to approval. The proposed Resolution requests the Mendocino County Sheriff have the signatory authority for the Agreements once they have be reviewed by the County approval process.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Return to staff for alternative handling.
