The Board has approved the transfer of funds and the purchase of fixed assets for OES as recently as May 2, 2017 item 4t.
Summary of Request:
The Mendocino County Office of Emergency Services (OES) is seeking to purchase two 2017 Plum Case Extended Wireless Cellular Routers for $15,755.13. These Deployable Wireless Cellular Routers are equipped with battery power and high end cellular and GPS antennas for extended reception in remote locations. These devices are intended to be deployed and used for both regular and emergency operations in locations in the county where traditional cell reception is poor to provide needed communication abilities and network access to responders for serving affected populations during disasters and emergencies. OES has been testing a vendor demo unit for the last month which has shown that it can provide greater communication and network abilities to responders working in locations where communication is limited due to terrain or distance from communication towers. This resource will be a huge improvement in communication capabilities during disasters and emergencies, increasing safety operations for the public, OES and responding agencies.
These would be purchased using FY16 Emergency Management Performance Grant funds (Cal OES Grant # 2016-0010) under a competitively awarded federal General Services Agency (GSA) contract.
