SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Business and Professions Code (BPC) Section 12200 requires that counties appoint a Sealer of Weights and Measures. Mendocino County's Sealer position became vacant at the end of January 2017. In the absence of a licensed sealer we are requesting that the Board of Supervisors approve the MOU between Lake and Mendocino Counties allowing for Sealer services to be temporarily provided by Lake County.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Do not approve the MOU, and request a new list of licensed Sealers from the Secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture or allow the Secretary to appoint a Sealer of their choosing.
