SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The County previously entered into Agreement No. 17-001 with Mitchell, Brisso, Delaney & Vrieze for an amount of $25,000, covering the period from March 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018 for the continuing legal representation in the case of Linda Morales, individually and as Guardian Ad Litem for K.B., and Rudolfo Morales v. County of Mendocino, et al., case number 3:16-cv-02429-EMC . This case is currently being prepared for trial. An amendment was made to Agreement No. 17-001 on July 12, 2017, increasing the amount from $25,000 to $50,000 so as to not delay payment to Contractor before the end of the 2016/2017 fiscal year. It is anticipated that we will spend close to $100,000 for the remainder of this current fiscal year. Our office has an agreement with Health & Human Services Agency to reimburse our department for the full amount of services billed as the lawsuit relates to Child Protective Services.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Do not approve.
