September 24, 2013 Item#13-049, approved electronic security system for the jail.
Summary of Request:
In September of 2013 the Board of Supervisors approved a contract with Integrated Security Controls, Inc. to purchase and install a security system in the Mendocino County Jail. Part of the system, manufactured by PELCO, is experiencing issues and PELCO, the manufacturer of the original equipment is refunding $40,000 for the original cost of the equipment. A better system by Avigilon, one that is proven to operate well in jails in other counties, is being purchased and will replace the original equipment. The value of three of the servers by Avigilon, the new manufacturer, will be fixed assets. The total cost of the new system is $72,974.53. After the refund is applied, the cost to the County will be $32,974.53. Integrated Security Controls, Inc. will not charge the County for labor costs to install the new system.
The total funds will be transferred from Account 2511-827700 in the amount of $40,000 and from 2511-750000 in the amount of $32,974.53 for a total of $72,974.53. The funds will go into the Jail 2510-827802 fund. The equipment will be purchased via a County Purchase Order.
