PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
Ongoing since 2008; last action on July 18, 2017 Item No. 4(q) approval of mental health services agreement with Humboldt County Department of Health and Human Services for Northern California Regional Facility (NCRF).
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
This agreement will provide detention services for Mendocino County juvenile probation youth in a locked facility to ensure their own and the community's safety and protection. Humboldt County's Probation Department provides detention services for youth who are ordered by the court to the Northern California Regional Facility (NCRF). The NCRF has provided specialized acute care and rehabilitation for Mendocino County youth with complex mental health and other systemic issues for the past nine years. The NCRF Facility provides beds to outside counties who desire a probation placement for their juvenile wards. The NCRF provides a very prescriptive program targeting harder to place youth with a high level of mental health needs that cannot currently be served through Mendocino County's facilities.
