On October 9, 2017, the Redwood Complex Fire started and resulted in significant structural damage of several portions of the County. On October 13, 2017, the local health officer declared a local health emergency under Health and Safety Code Section 101080 due to hazardous materials contained in the debris from structures destroyed by the fire.
