PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On October 13, 2017, the local health officer issued a declaration of local health emergency due to the hazardous debris generated by the Redwood Complex Fire. On October 17, 2017, the Board ratified the declaration. On October 31, 2017, November 14, 2017, and November 21, 2017, the Board adopted Resolution Nos. 17-154, 17-167, and 17-173, respectively, reaffirming the existence of the local health emergency.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
On October 9, 2017, the Redwood Complex Fire started and resulted in significant structural damage of several portions of the County. On October 13, 2017, the local health officer declared a local health emergency under Health and Safety Code Section 101080 due to hazardous materials contained in the debris from structures destroyed by the fire. The Board of Supervisors ratified the declaration on October 13, 2017. On October 31, 2017, November 14, 2017, and November 21, 2017, the Board adopted Resolution Nos. 17-154, 17-167, and 17-173, respectively, reaffirming the existence of the local health emergency.

As of 11/28/2017, the preliminary hazardous waste sweeps have been completed for approximately 295 of 385 residential structures. 301 properties have arranged for cleanup through the public Consolidated Debris Removal Program, and debris has been removed from 70 parcels, which are still awaiting final soil testing results.
