Summary of Request:
At the June 3, 2014, workshop, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors approved a Health and Human Services Agency, Public Health request and CEO recommendation to increase Public Health’s Emergency Medical Services budget to allow for additional funding intended to enhance and sustain Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to vulnerable and underserved communities in Mendocino County. On May 5, 2015, the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors approved MOUs with Anderson Valley Ambulance (now part of Anderson Valley Community Services District) and Long Valley Fire Protection District to form partnerships with existing permitted providers within the County and use the funds to support staffing and innovative pilot projects specific to ALS services.
The goal of these partnerships is to meet the objective of enhancing and/or sustaining existing emergency medical services in the rural areas. Each MOU will require of providers, at minimum: a detailed agreement describing the partnership; submission of monthly reports describing enhancements including financial reports, training and educational opportunities made possible through the partnership; and a one-time detailed report upon conclusion of the agreement describing the partnerships fiscal and operational challenges, opportunities and successes. Each provider’s project will be up to one year in duration at $66,000 each for a grand total of $132,000.
