PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On February 7, 2017, the Board of Supervisors referred the County Fire District Funding Agreements to the Public Health, Safety and Resources Committee (PHSR) but the Committee did not make a recommendation to the Board. On November 14, 2017, the Board of Supervisors directed staff to prepare an item regarding fire funding for the next available Board.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Board has approved the allocation of $398,130 in Proposition 172 funding to support local fire districts in Fiscal Year 2017-18 but has not provided direction on a formula for distribution. A separate agenda item on today's agenda provides the Board with the opportunity to discuss and give direction on the preferred formula for disbursement of Proposition 172 funding. An alternative funding formula has been proposed that, if approved by the Board, will increase the total allocation by $87,521 dollars. The purpose of this agenda item is to allow the Board to approve the allocation of an additional $87,521 to local fire agencies, to be disbursed from the Contingency Fund, provided the Board approves the proposed alternative funding formula for allocation of Proposition 1...
