RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Approve retroactive Revenue Agreement No. 2018-26 with the U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration in the amount of $98,000 for the eradication and suppression of illicit cannabis on Federal lands for the term of October 1, 2017, to September 30, 2018; and authorize the Sheriff to sign any future amendments to the Agreement that do not increase the annual maximum amount of the Agreement; and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
March 7, 2017 BOS approved the 2017-28 U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration in the amount of $70,000. August 16, 2017 BOS ratified submission of application for the 2018-26 U.S. Department of Justice Drug Enforcement Administration grant.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) works with local law enforcement agencies regarding illicit cannabis eradication activities on Federal lands within their jurisdiction. The funds are used to defray costs relating to the eradication and suppression of illicit cannabis. They are primarily intended for payment of deputies' overtime while those deputies are directly engaged in the illicit cannabis eradication process.
