Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
The role of the Commission is established in Chapter 2.5 of the Mendocino County Fish and Game Code; this role includes recommending expenditures to the Board of Supervisors from the Fish and Wildlife Propagation Fund that are in accordance with the requirements of the Fish and Game Code Sections 13100-13104.
Summary of Request:
The Commission is requesting that the Board of Supervisors consider and approve recommendations for an allocation of County Fish and Game Propagation Funds in the amount of $43,500 which the Commission budget has available for this purpose, for various projects for the 2017/2018 Project Application Cycle. An Ad Hoc Committee of three Commissioners met on January 17, 2018 to rank the submitted proposals. The Commission held a special meeting on January 17, 2018 to review the rankings and voted to recommend funding the top four rated projects to the Board of Supervisors as follows:
1. $5,000: Sacramento Pike Minnow Abatement Program by Ukiah Rod & Gun Club
2. $25,000:Urchin Removal Project by Waterman's Alliance
3. $3,400: Two Kayaks for Inland Mendocino County State Game Wardens
by California Department of Fish and Wildlife
4. $10,450: Sub-tidal Marine Protected Area Monitoring of Mendocino County’s Rocky Reefs by Reef Check California
Ayes: (4) Commissioners Norm Brown, Patty Madigan, RedHawk Pallesen, & Randy Vann
Abstain: (2) Commissioners Patrick Ford & Michael Kura (due to conflict of interest)
Absent: (1) Commissioner Neumann

Do not approve the funding recommendations of the Mendocino County Fish and Game Commission.
