Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:
The Board has previously adopted resolutions of support for the award of funding to secure conservation easements for agricultural lands.
Summary of Request:
The Mendocino Land Trust (MLT) has been awarded $1.13 million from the Sustainable Agricultural Lands Conservation Program within the Department of Conservation to purchase a conservation easement on 133.5 acres of agricultural land currently in vineyard production and owned by the Mendocino Farming Company. Pursuant to the requirements of the funding agency, neighboring property owners have been notified that the MLT intends to purchase this conservation easement. A resolution of support from the Board of Supervisors is required before funding can be transferred to the land trust. This property is located north of Lovers Lane, south of Masonite Road and west of Highway 101. Adjoining land immediately adjacent to Highway 101 is not subject to and is not part of this conservation easement. The proposed conservation easement is a separate project that may not be used as mitigation for any other project. Supervisors Hamburg and McCowen are requesting approval of the attached resolution in support of the conservation easement.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Do not adopt the resolution or adopt the resolution as modified.
