Summary of Request

Assembly Bill (AB) 2463 would provide funding from the State of California for California’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and Women’s Business Centers (WBC). West Company, Inc. is the host for both the Mendocino County SBDC and WBC.  They utilize the modest funding received from the US Small Business Administration (SBA) to provide technical assistance and training to local entrepreneurs to enable them to launch and/or develop their businesses. These services are absolutely critical to our rural economy. In the last three years West Company, Inc., services have resulted in:

                     74 new businesses

                     235 new jobs / 95 retained jobs

                     $9.6 M in increased sales

$5.5 M in new business loans

AB 2463 is consistent with the 2017 Legislative Platform in the area of Economic and Community Development.
