Summary of Request

On September 19, 2017, the Board of Supervisors reviewed and approved the finalized version of Mendocino County’s Mental Health Services Act Innovation Project No. 1, a project that has been in varying stages of development since fiscal year 2013-14 when a community planning process highlighted the need for Crisis Response Services in rural communities. As part of continued implementation of Innovation Project #1, Health and Human Services Agency, Behavioral Health and Recovery Services is contracting with Round Valley Indian Health Center (RVIHC), Yuki Trails to develop and provide Crisis Response Services over the course of three years (Fiscal Years 2017-20).

RVIHC’s satellite site, Yuki Trails, is the predominant service provider in behavioral health, drug and alcohol prevention, and counseling in Round Valley, an isolated area of Mendocino County. Yuki Trails’ staff and RVIHC leadership played a key role in the stakeholder process to develop this unique, innovative project concept. As part of Innovation Project No. 1, Yuki Trails will: convene an expanded stakeholder group for input and feedback; develop outcome measurement tools; identify and test strategies to improve communication among County and mental health providers; identify, develop and test strategies to improve crisis response services; provide crisis response services; and staff, maintain, and identify training needs related to the delivery of crisis response programming.
