Summary of Request:
Redwood Community Services (RCS), a State licensed Foster Family Agency, will provide six retained beds in the Mendocino County Children’s Center, a Group Home/Short Term Residential Therapeutic Program. Health and Human Service Agency, Family and Children’s Services will use the retained beds for immediate placement needs in order to assess and stabilize youth, ages 7 to 17, who present with significant behavioral challenges that prevent placement in a home-based setting. RCS will also staff Emergency Support, as part of the emergency support team, to take care of the immediate needs of detained children, allowing county social workers to continue investigative duties and assessments of relatives or other non-related extended family members for potential placements. Additionally, this Agreement will cover stipends to RCS foster homes willing to be on-call 24/7 to receive emergency placements of children and youth in home-based care.
