Previous Board/Board Committee Actions: The Board of Supervisors approves capital projects during the Budget process and/or on meeting agendas as public project needs occur. Recent Library related facility modifications include ADA compliant doors at the Willits and Fort Bragg Libraries in 2014.
Summary of Request:
The three new Capital Improvement projects for the Ukiah Library include replacing the circulation desk, painting the interior of the library, and the community room and fire alarm project.
The current circulation desk at the Ukiah Library is necessary in order to address safety concerns. The new circulation desk is planned for the opposite side of the library with the workstations facing the entrance.
The interior walls of the public area of the Ukiah Library are outdated and in need of cosmetic improvements. This project is supported by the patrons and Friends of the Library. Additionally, the Library will be re-carpeted this fiscal year; these projects will be coordinated simultaneously in order to be more efficient.
The Ukiah Library is the only branch without a meeting room for library programs or community meetings. This project was budgeted last year, but not completed.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Do not approve and refer back to Staff.
