Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

March 7, 2017, the Board of Supervisors (BOS) approved the 2017-28 U.S. DOJ/DEA agreement in the amount of $70,000.  August 16, 2017 BOS ratified submission of application for the 2018-26 U.S. DOJ/DEA grant. February 27, 2018 BOS approved the 2018-26 revenue agreement with the DOJ/DEA in the amount of $98,000.

Summary of Request

The U.S. DOJ/DEA works with local law enforcement agencies regarding illicit cannabis eradication activities on Federal lands within their jurisdiction. The funds are used to defray costs relating to the eradication and suppression of illicit cannabis.  They are primarily intended for payment of deputies’ overtime while those deputies are directly engaged in the illicit cannabis eradication process.  On June 21, 2018, the U.S. DOJ/DEA informed the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) that they have awarded an additional $60,000 to the BOS 18-016 agreement with MCSO for the October 1, 2017-September 30, 2018 term. This addition will bring the agreement total to $158,000. MCSO requests all six (6) originals be signed by the BOS and returned to MCSO for final processing with the U.S. DOJ/DEA.
