PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On June 19, 2018, the Board of Supervisors adopted the Master Position Allocation table for the FY 2018-2019 Budget, Resolution No. 18-086.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Human Resources Department is charged, as part of the overall maintenance of the classification and compensation plan, to evaluate current classifications, create new classifications (including appropriate salary levels), reclassify positions, examine requests for salary grade adjustments, analyze allocations, and make recommendations for additions, modifications and corrections.

The Sheriff's Office is in need of a Legal Secretary II. This position would be assigned to the warrants desk, which involves advanced clerical work and a familiarity with the legal system and associated processes. Staff Assistant II, which is currently allocated, is a more generalized clerical classification that does not adequately address the full scope of duties the Sheriff's Office requires of this position, nor does it require the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the full range of assignments.
