Summary of Request

The Treasurer-Tax Collector in coordination with County Counsel, and with review and approval by the Executive Office, request the Board to consider amendments to Chapter 6.04 of the County Code regarding County businesses.  These proposed changes are aimed at removing uncertainty and creating efficiency and consistency.  The proposed changes clarify and articulate which entities must obtain County business licenses; amend language for internal consistency and clarity; amend provisions for consistency with state law and with current practices of the Tax Collector; add exemption provisions for yard sales, County contractors, and for people that are carrying out business activities for a business that possesses a valid County business license; soften the requirement to exhibit a license to people other than County employees; and create more options for the County regarding enforcement.
