SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The proposed project of the CSU Chico Geographical Information Center and CA Fairs Financing Authority entails assessing broadband connectivity at fairgrounds for emergency response/economic development and develop broadband plans, cost estimates and complete CEQA compliance. High speed connections to serve first responders and provide wireless internet access to evacuees during disasters will greatly enhance fairground's ability to manage response and recovery during disasters. The connections will also allow fairgrounds in our county to explore alternative uses to support economic development in our communities.
The letter of support is consistent with the 2018 Legislative Platform statements.
