Summary of Request

On June 6, 2018, the County submitted an application to the Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) Fire Prevention Grant Program to treat approximately 487.5 acres around private residences, mitigate the hazard posed by dead and dying trees for approximately 75 structures, and remove 373 dead or dying trees threatening the public right of way.  The County received notice from CAL FIRE on August 3, 2018 that the grant application was approved.  CAL FIRE requires a resolution from the board authorizing a representative from the County to execute the agreement.  The resolution authorizes the County to enter into agreement with CAL FIRE for the Redwood Complex Fire Recovery: Hazardous Tree Removal Project, effective when fully executed through November 30, 2019, authorizes the Chair to sign the agreement, and authorizes the Chief Executive Officer to sign any future amendments.
