Adopt Proclamation recognizing December 15, 2018, as National Wreaths Across America Day in Mendocino County; and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Board routinely adopts proclamations recognizing special events in Mendocino County. On December 6, 2016, and December 6, 2017 the Board of Supervisors adopted Proclamations recognizing Wreaths Across America Day.
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The National Wreaths Across America Day is on December 15, 2018. Wreaths Across America's mission, "Remember, Honor, Teach" was first carried out by coordinating a wreath laying ceremony in December at Arlington National Cemetery twenty-six years ago. Wreaths Across America Day has grown through the years to include other veterans' cemeteries throughout the Nation, other locations in all 50 states and beyond to spread their message about the importance of remembering our fallen heroes, honoring those who serve, and teaching our children about the sacrifices made by veterans and their families to preserve our freedoms. The event is made possible by thousands of volunteers who organize local ceremonies, raise funds to sponsor wreaths, and participate in the occasion. The cost of the program is paid by individual wreaths sponsors, corporate donors and volunteer truckers.
