Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

On July 28, 2018, the Local Health Officer issued a declaration of local health emergency due to hazardous material debris generated by the Mendocino Complex Fire. On July 31, 2018, the Board of Supervisors ratified the declaration. On August 7, 2018, August 21, 2018, September 11, 2018, October 2, 2018, October 16, 2018, and November 6, 2018, the Board adopted Resolution Nos. 18-113, 18-127, 18-136, 18-147, and 18-162 respectively, reaffirming the existing of the Local Health Emergency.

 

Summary of Request

On July 27, 2018, the Mendocino Complex Fire started and threatened public safety communications systems and caused a condition of extreme peril to life and property in Mendocino County.  On July 29, 2108, the Local Health Officer issued a declaration of local health emergency due hazardous materials in the ash from burned structures that could thereby pollute and contaminate agricultural water and the drinking water supply of the affected areas and the populations that rely on the drinking water supply.  The Board of Supervisors ratified the declaration on July 31, 2018, and on August 7, 2018, August 21, 2018, September 11, 2018, October 2, 2018, October 16, 2018, and November 6, 2018, adopted Resolution Nos. 18-104, 18-113, 18-127, 18-136, 18-147, and 18-162 respectively, reaffirming the existence of the local health emergency.

 

It is requested that the Board find that the local health emergency continues to exist, and therefore reaffirms the proclamation of local health emergency.
