SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
On December 1, 2018, President Trump issued a Presidential Proclamation announcing the death of George H. W. Bush. The proclamation appoints December 5, 2018 as a National Day of Mourning throughout the United States.

Mendocino County Code section 3.04.190(A) establishes Mendocino County paid holidays and includes language stating that any additional days designated by the President or the Governor of the State of California and formally recognized by the Board of Supervisors as a holiday, day of Thanksgiving, or of public mourning will be a paid holiday for County employees.

Human Resources requests the Board of Supervisors make a determination regarding the recognition of December 5, 2018 as a National Day of Mourning.
