Summary of Request

Mendocino County Museum is requesting approval to apply for a $2,000 grant through the Community Foundation of Mendocino County's Judy Pruden Historical Preservation Fund. This grant application and subsequent funding, if awarded, would support expanding interactive "hands on history" components within Mendocino County's exhibits. If funding is awarded, the Mendocino County Museum would use the dollars to buy reproduction hands-on artifacts and fabricate interactive exhibit components such as a Native American basket activity. Interactive components like the basket weaving activity would help support and engage Museum visitors with Mendocino County's history, communities, and peoples. Grant applicants are notified of awards by April 5, 2019. Grant recipients are required complete the project and account for expenses by April of 2020.

Alternative Action/Motion:

Do not approve the grant submission and provide further instruction to staff.
