Summary of Request:
FIRST 5 Mendocino introduced Triple P (Positive Parenting Program) to Mendocino County for families with questions about young children’s behavior. The Triple P program has now evolved to help families with children of all ages find positive solutions to child behavioral problems and help with children who have a delay or disability. The curriculum utilizes a self-regulatory model that focuses on strengthening the positive attachment between parents and children by helping parents develop effective communication skills.
Pursuant to the proposed Agreement, FIRST 5 Mendocino shall provide twelve seminars throughout the contract period at local Family Resource Centers and sixteen, 8-week Triple P courses throughout the County to parents of children under the age of sixteen. The goal of this program is increase sense of competence in parenting priorities, improve self-awareness of parenting issues, reduce parental stress, and improve the mental health outcomes of children and parents.
An Agreement with FIRST 5 Mendocino to provide Triple P services was originally drafted to begin upon full execution. The contractor, however, inadvertently misplaced the contract, which necessitated it being redrafted retroactively on January 1. 2019.
