SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Economic Development and Financing Corporation (EDFC) was contracted to act as Mendocino County's Broadband Coordinator in July of 2018. The project is funded through a grant from the California Public Utilities Commission with a match from the county. As part of the county's involvement in the North Bay North Coast Broadband Consortium the county was able to access funding and one of the deliverables for the CPUC grant was to create a strategic plan for the county to reach its' broadband goals.

Mendocino County's goal is to develop the digital infrastructure needed to have available and affordable high-speed internet access for 98% of households by 2025. High-speed internet, for the purposes of this plan is defined as 100 megabits per second (mbps) download speed and 20 mbps upload speed. Affordable is defined as approximately $70/month. This is an extremely ambitious goal, but critical for the economic future of Mendocino County and through advancements in technology we hope it will be possible.

The plan details the current state of the county's digital infrastructure which includes access to wireline service (copper and fiber optic), wireless service (microwave), and cellular service.
