Summary of Request

Redwood Community Services, Inc. (RCS) will continue to provide services to those individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness and need to be sheltered, but who are not able to stay in the Homeless Shelter, often due to a need identified in Homelessness Needs Assessment and Action Steps for Mendocino County (March 19, 2018, by Marbut Consulting). Alternate sheltering may be recommended, for example, for individuals due to medical necessity or for families if they have children. In such cases, these individuals and families are sheltered temporarily in hotels.

RCS works to link temporarily sheltered individuals and families with alternate supports as soon as possible; however, the estimated need for these higher level services has increased past the projected level, requiring the need to request additional funding to meet sheltering needs.
