Previous Board/Board Committee Actions:

On January 22, 2019, the Board of Supervisors nominated Fort Bragg Council Member Lindy Peters to a North Coast Representative seat on the California Coastal Commission.

Summary of Request

On March 27, 2019, a letter from the office of Governor Newsom was received requesting additional nominations to fill a vacancy on the California Coastal Commission in the representational category of North Coast Region of California. Nominations are being sought by city selection committees, as well as Boards of Supervisors in the counties of Del Norte, Humboldt, and Mendocino.  On May 1, 2019, the Mendocino County City Selection Committee unanimously nominated Fort Bragg Mayor Will Lee to a North Coast Representative seat on the California Coastal Commission. On Friday Chair Brown and I were informed that the City Selection Committee endorsed Fort Bragg Mayor Will Lee to serve on the California Coastal Commission.  Due to the fact that we were notified after the publication of the City Selection Committee meeting results, and due to the fact that the Governor's Office is already conducting a second round of interviews for this position, it is requested that the Board approve a letter of support for Mayor Lee as an off-agenda item.
