Approve Agreement with Redwood Toxicology, Inc. aka Redwood Biotech, in the amount of $80,000 to provide drug testing supplies and laboratory services for Health and Human Services Agency, Family and Children’s Services clients for the period of July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020; authorize the Health and Human Services Agency Director or designee to sign any future amendments to the Agreement that do not exceed the annual maximum amount; and authorize Chair to sign same.

Summary of Request:
Health and Human Services Agency has been contracting with Redwood Toxicology Laboratory since 2006 for drug/alcohol testing devices and specimen laboratory testing. Redwood Toxicology Laboratory will provide services for Family and Children’s Services clients who are required to drug test either as part of investigations regarding child abuse or neglect, or as part of a client’s case plan to determine if drugs and/or alcohol are being used.
Redwood Toxicology Laboratory is one of the nation’s largest drug and alcohol testing laboratories and is the government services division of Alere Toxicology. They are able to provide rapid and reliable results which impacts social worker and court decisions about children’s safety in homes with parents who are testing positive for drug and/or alcohol.
