April 9, 2019 BOS approved the 2019 DOJ DEA revenue agreement in the amount of $158,000.                     

 

Summary of Request

In April 2019, the BOS approved the annual revenue agreement with the US DOJ/DEA in the amount of $158,000 to be used in defraying the cost of eradication and suppression of illicit marijuana grows in Mendocino County. The amendment to the original contract in the amount of $24,000 will be used to help defray the costs of training staff how to identify environmental and water diversion crimes that occur with illicit marijuana operations. The training will occur June 10-14, 2019 in Ukiah. The training will include aerial observation training, both in the classroom and in the air. The training includes aircraft safety, operations and planning, legal issues related to aerial observation as well as site detection and identification. The classroom instruction will cover practical flight time on pre-identified sites along with how to conduct identification flights. Rotor wing aircraft (helicopters) will be used during the course of the training.
