SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The Code Enforcement Division of the Department of Planning and Building Services requests acceptance of a report and update regarding code enforcement activities in the County. Since the last report in the spring of 2018, the County has continued to provide a dedicated full time staff attorney and added a part-time contract building inspector to the Division. With the continued dedication of staff, resources and strategy, the Division has continued to see success by way of increased compliance and the public awareness that enforcement follow-through will occur. In addition to reporting the activities of the past year, this presentation will provide a brief update on the continued needs for further program and ordinance development, penalty collections, and the necessity of continued full time legal support from County Counsel to complete enforcement actions for compliance and seek civil remedies through court action and other legal processes.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Provide direction to staff.
