Summary of Request

The University of California, Davis (UC Davis) is the State’s contracted Child Welfare Services training entity for the Northern California region, to which Mendocino County is assigned. The UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education program offers training programs specific to the field of human services and California child welfare services that cannot be obtained from any other general training entity. Mendocino County, Health and Human Service Agency (HHSA), Family and Children’s Services (FCS) has worked with UC Davis for the past two years to offer trainings to County social workers and social worker supervisors. HHSA would like to continue providing these trainings to staff by utilizing UC Davis services through this new Training Services Agreement.

Through this new Agreement with UC Davis, HHSA FCS will use 17.5 training units to bring trainers from UC Davis to Mendocino County to provide training to County staff. County Child Welfare Clerical staff will be trained in order to enhance and grow customer service skills, and County Child Welfare Analyst staff will be trained in order to enhance and grow skills in data analysis and problem-solving techniques. Overall, training to staff will help create more timely and accurate data reporting, and improve program planning.
