Summary of Request

The voters of Mendocino County passed Measure B on November 7, 2017, for the purpose of improving residents' lives and public safety by strategically evaluating and enhancing resources for mental health treatment. On April 24, 2018, the Board of Supervisors directed a budget unit be developed for Measure B and managed by the Executive Office. In addition, the Board directed that all Measure B funds must be approved by the Board of Supervisors before allocation.

On September 25, 2019, the "Mental Health Treatment Act" Citizen's Oversight Committee approved an item recommending the approval of allocating up to $50,000 of Measure B Funds to begin improvements to the Regional Behavioral Health Training Facility.  Although the initial request was for $250,000, the Committee requested additional information regarding the plan for improvements and would consider the additional $200,000 to be allocated in the future.  The Committee directed an Ad Hoc Committee of Sheriff Thomas Allman and Member Jenine Miller to work on the total improvement plan, to be reported back to the Measure B Committee.  The initial $50,000 was requested to be allocated immediately so general improvements can begin.  The additional allocation of $200,000 will be requested after the Ad Hoc Committee has reported to the Measure B Committee regarding further improvement plans, with a follow up request for funding to the Board of Supervisors.
