SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The voters of Mendocino County passed Measure B on November 7, 2017, for the purpose of improving residents' lives and public safety by strategically evaluating and enhancing resources for mental health treatment. On April 24, 2018, the Board of Supervisors directed a budget unit be developed for Measure B and managed by the Executive Office. In addition, the Board directed that all Measure B funds must be approved by the Board of Supervisors before allocation or expenditure.

On September 25, 2019, the "Mental Health Treatment Act" Citizen's Oversight Committee approved an item recommending the expenditure of up to $30,000 of Measure B funds for grant writer services. Measure B could benefit greatly by the assistance of grant writers to research and apply for grants for funding that may exist for help with mental health. In an effort to prevent any delay or missed grant opportunities, the Committee appointed Jenine Miller, County Mental Health Director, to administer the authorization of grants.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Do not authorize use of funds.
