PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The BOS has repeatedly taken positions against off shore drilling and military sonar testing, and in support of healthy oceans.
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) sent out a request for comments regarding designation of critical habitat for humpback whales of the Pacific coastal waters including the coastal waters of Mendocino County. The Noyo Center in Fort Bragg helped to develop this letter to the NMFS. Supervisors Haschak and Gjerde request the Board approve a letter of support designating the pacific coastal waters as critical habitat for humpback whales.
