SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
In the last two decades, many rural, critical care hospitals have closed their doors, and the hospital serving the Mendocino Coast could close its doors, as well. As medical reimbursement formulas have changed over the years, the board of directors of the Mendocino Coast District Hospital sought and won voter approval of a $144 parcel tax and yet is still operating with a deficit. After multiple rounds of budget cutting the board of directors conducted a search for an entity to operate the hospital. Stone Point Health, an affiliate of Adventist Health System/West, stepped forward and negotiated a lease agreement that has been endorsed by the Mendocino Coast District Hospital. To maintain and enhance medical care on the Mendocino Coast, the district board of directors is asking voters of the district to approve the lease agreement, which is described as Measure C. Both Supervisors representing the Mendocino Coast, Dan Gjerde and Ted Williams, are asking the board of supervisors to endorse Measure C, which appears on the March 3, 2020 ballot.

ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Do not adopt Resolution. ...
