Approve the Second Amendment to BOS Agreement 19-265 with Bennet Omalu Pathology increasing the total agreement amount by $700,000 for the increased need for autopsy and forensic pathology services for the Mendocino County Sheriff Coroner's Office, effective July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023; and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On December 17, 2019, the Board approved a five-year agreement for forensic pathology services with Bennet Omalu Pathology in the amount of $1,675,000.
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
On August 19, 2019, the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office released RFP SO-2019-002 for proposals to provide forensic pathology services to the County. The RFP committee chose the Bennet Omalu Pathology Group for the contract award on September 30, 2019. The agreement is for five years which locks in competitive rates for the County. Forensic pathology services are difficult to budget for as the costs are directly linked to the undetermined number of Coroner cases that come in, and the types of services needed to determine the cause of death. The Board authorized the Sheriff's Office to increase the contract up to $100,000 if needed in the interest of time as these types of services cannot be put on hold.
