PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
On April 19, 2022, the Board of Supervisors approved the Cultural Services Agency meeting room fees which allows for reservation revenue from for-profit or private groups: agenda item 4a.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Meeting rooms are a valuable resource throughout Mendocino County, and the Libraries and Museum can provide spaces for meetings. Priority for free meeting room use will be given for Museum and Library events and related organizations such as the Advisory Boards and Friends groups. Additionally, other governmental and non-profit organizations will also be able to reserve the meeting rooms at no charge. There will be fee-based charges of $30/hour for commercial or private events which do not meet the free reservation requirements.

The Cultural Services Agency (CSA) is following the lead of other public agencies such as Sonoma County Library by allowing reservations of meeting rooms by paying organizations and individuals, and CSA staff worked with County Counsel to create the Policy for the Use of Meeting Rooms at Mendocino County Library Branches and Mendocino County Museum. The Meeting Room Policy clarifies the free and fee-based reservations, the requirements for the meetings, safety, set-up and clean-up, publicity, insurance, the reservation process, denial of use process, and the fees.
