RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Approve Amendment to BOS Agreement No. 19-259 with Mendocino County AIDS Viral Hepatitis Network (MCAVHN), in the amount of $125,000 for a new Agreement total of $575,000, to provide harm reduction services and needle exchange throughout Mendocino County, effective July 1, 2019 through new end date June 30, 2023 (original end date June 30, 2022); authorize the Public Health Director or designee to sign any future amendments that do not increase the annual maximum amount; and authorize Chair to sign same.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Mendocino County AIDS/Viral Hepatitis Network (MCAVHN) has been serving the local community since 1987. Pursuant to the contract, MCAVHN provides services in compliance with best practices of the California Department of Public Health's Syringe Exchange Certification Program. The purpose of the contract is to reduce the spread of infectious diseases that threaten public health, improve the safe disposal of syringes while reducing the inappropriate disposal of syringes and medications that threaten the general public, and engage individuals who are injection drug users to connect them with recovery and tre...
