Summary of Request:
In Mendocino County, the placement and care of children who have been removed from the custody of their parents or guardians under Welfare and Institutions Code Section 300 is the responsibility of the Mendocino County Department of Social Services/Family and Children’s Services (FCS). As part of meeting this requirement, FCS contracts with Tapestry Family Services (TFS) for the provision of emergency foster home placement services to youth in Mendocino County.
TFS is a licensed Foster Family Agency, and will provide home-based placements for children from birth to eighteen years of age who are in need of immediate, emergency foster care placement. TFS will provide at least 8 beds per month that are ready to receive immediate, emergency placements. To date in Fiscal Year 21/22, TFS has served a minimum of 5 children to a maximum of 12 children in a month needing emergency placement. This agreement is an increase from the Fiscal Year 21-22 agreement in that an additional emergency bed and an increased stipend tier for emergency resource parents have been added due to the increasing need for emergency foster care placements.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Return to staff for alternative handing.
