Summary of Request:
Trey Strickland, the Environmental Health Director for the past four years, and Anne Molgaard, the Public Health Director, spoke with Environmental Health professionals who are familiar with the North Coast, a county structure, and are certified in environmental health. Trey and Anne also reached out to recently retired and interim professionals who work contractually throughout the state. They were only able to locate one candidate willing to provide Environmental Health services, Dave Jensen. Mr. Jensen provides consulting services to the Public Health Director for the Environmental Health Department and will assist with the recruitment and training of a permanent Environmental Health Director/ Manager. In addition to the efforts, a revised job description for an Environmental Health Director is at Human Resources for submission to the Civil Service Commission.
Due to the on-going need for these services, this proposed Amendment increases the total amount for a new total of $100,000 for the continuation of these critically needed services to facilitate Environmental Health performance and compliance with applicable regulations.
Alternative Action/Motion:
Return to staff for alternative handling.
