PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
The Board routinely adopts similar proclamations honoring volunteers of County departments, including April 19, 2022 Agenda item 3s. for Volunteer Appreciation Week.
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Since 2005, the American Library Association has set aside a week of each year to honor the contributions of Friends of the Library groups around the country. Our local Friends of the Library groups support our branches by fundraising in order to purchase collections, furniture, equipment, programming supplies, and speakers and performers that benefit the library community.
This Proclamation helps reach the County's Strategic Plan Priority of an Effective County Government by honoring the residents of the County who help provide the best library services possible. We would like to thank the Friends of the Library for their gift of time, funding, and commitment to literacy.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION/MOTION:
Do not adopt the Proclamation and provide alternate direction to staff.
