Approve agreement (retroactive first amendment to agreement GS-39-12) with Brokaw Design in the amount of $6,600 additional design services for the pre-trial release program building project for a new agreement total of $51,600 and to extend the termination date from December 30, 2022, to July 31, 2024; and authorize Chair to sign same.

PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
Project was approved with initial design funding during fiscal year 2021-22 first quarter budget update; Balance of project funding from various sources was approved with the 2022-23 proposed budget.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Project design for a new pretrial release program building within the jail compound began in early 2022 under the original agreement with the intention to fast track the design and installation of a modular building, however during the design process, a new occupancy designation specifically for pre-trial release facilities was adopted as part of the latest California Building Code update, requiring modifications to the design of the building and increases in the design scope and time for completion of the contract. County staff did not allow sufficient time to negotiate and execute the amendment prior to the contract expiration date.

Provide alternative direction to staff.
