PREVIOUS BOARD/BOARD COMMITTEE ACTIONS:
Since 2016, the development of the Legislative Platform has been with the General Government Standing Committee. On January 23, 2023, the General Government Committee reviewed, and with suggestions from the public, the 2023 Legislative Platform was referred to the Board of Supervisors.
SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
Pursuant to County Policy No. 19, the Board of Supervisors adopts an annual Legislative Platform reflecting the County priorities for legislative advocacy, state and federal funding, and issues of interest to local government. The proposed Legislative Platform includes the following categories: regulatory mandates and reform, transportation, natural resources, cannabis, disaster prevention, recovery, resiliency, mitigation, economic and community development, agriculture, public safety, environment, and public health. Supervisors Haschak and Mulheren request the Board of Supervisors review the proposed legislative priorities and adopt the 2023 Legislative Platform.

Do not adopt the platform and provide alternative direction to staff.
