RECOMMENDED ACTION/MOTION:

Approve Grant Agreement with UC Davis Veterinary School in the amount of $100,000 to replace the existing mobile Spay and Neuter vehicle with a new vehicle, for a total amount estimated at $200,000 to $225,000; Approve utilization of funds from the Mendocino County Spay and Neuter Trust in an amount estimated at $100,000 to $125,000 to complete the purchase; Approve addition of the vehicle to the County's list of fixed assets; and authorization for the Animal Care Services Director or designee to sign the grant agreement and any future amendments that do not increase the maximum amount.

SUMMARY OF REQUEST:
The current spay and neuter vehicle is over 20 years of age, has older outdated veterinary equipment on board and has cost the County approximately $10,000 in repairs over the last several years. Due to the size of the vehicle the County is not able to perform routine maintenance or repairs to the vehicle. The new vehicle like the old vehicle would be maintained and serviced by a local vehicle repair business. The new vehicle would be a drivable RV outfitted with a veterinary surgical suite, veterinary medical equipment, recovery kennels and generator. The estimated cost would be approximately...
